MOE, GALLUP, MILLINGHAUS POWER PATROONS TO MUCH-NEEDED WIN

(ALBANY, N.Y.) On the strength of 30 points from a returning Anthony Moe, along with five straight three-pointers from EJ Gallup and 28 points from new acquisition Shadell Millinghaus, the Albany Patroons claimed a much-needed victory 131-114 over the Owensboro Thoroughbreds. With the win, Albany moves to 13-10, one game behind the Raleigh Firebirds for the fourth and final playoff position in the TBL.

“Whatever we needed for a W tonight, we got it,” said Gallup, whose 17 points were all accomplished in the second half. “The Thoroughbreds were leaving me in transition, my teammates found me in transition, I was getting good looks and scoring.”

Anthony Moe, who returned to the Patroons lineup during their recent three-game road trip, played like a man possessed, scoring a double-double of 30 points and 19 rebounds; he had a double-double of 13 points and 10 boards at the end of the first half, in which the Patroons held a slim 60-59 lead.

The Patroons’ other recent signing, Shadell Millinghaus, scored 28 points for Albany – Millinghaus recently played against the Patroons as a member of the New York Court Kings.

The Thoroughbreds were led in scoring by Dante Bailey with 27 points, Donovan Griffith with 22 points, and 20 points from Marshall Griffith. Rennard Thomas, who was recently released by the Patroons, played the game for Owensboro, scoring four points and garnering four steals, but he also had seven costly turnovers.

The Patroons’ next home game is this Saturday, April 6 against the Jamestown Jackals, with a tip-off at 4:00 p.m.
