With a powerful double-double effort of 21 points and 16 rebounds from Alonzo Murphy, a 26-point scoring effort from Darius Paul, and 15 points off the bench from Josh Cameron, the Albany Patroons triumphed over Jamestown, 97-94, to remain unbeaten in the TBL standings.
The win also moved Albany to a first-place tie with the Kansas City Tornadoes for first place in the TBL standings. Jamestown moves to 2-7 on the season.
Darius Paul led all Patroons scorers with 26 points, earned on 11-for-15 shooting from the floor, including four completed 3-pointers. Alonzo Murphy was not far behind – his 21 points came from an 8-for-13 run and 5-for-7 from the free throw line; his 16 rebounds included 13 defensive boards.
“I’m a shooter, so I saw that there were some open spots on the floor, and I was trying to find my spot,” said Josh Cameron, who came off the bench and in 20 minutes of play, scored 15 points on 5-for-12 from the floor, 3-for-8 from 3-point range, and a perfect 2-for-2 from the line; he also had three key steals. “Coming off the bench, you have to stay ready, and when the coach calls you, you have to come in and create some action.”
The Jackals were led in scoring by Austin Hamilton and James Helton with 19 points apiece; Deangelo Stewart scored 17 points, while Chris Carter came off the bench with an 18-point effort.
The Patroons will next face the Mesquite Desert Dogs on Friday evening, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Armory.
