The Albany Patroons' road trip woes continue, as the Pats lost their third consecutive road contest, falling to the Dallas Skyline 112-106. The Skyline improve their league-leading record to 9-3, while the Patroons fall to 5-3 and remain in fourth place in the TBL standings.
Albany fell behind early in the game, as Dallas outscored the Patroons 29-11 in the first quarter. The Patroons fought back, outscoring the Skyline in the second, third and fourth quarters 31-27, 35-30 and 29-26, but could close the deal in the game's final moments.
Paris Collins, a 6'4" guard from Jackson State who joined the Patroons on the road trip, was the top scorer for Albany with 23 points on 10-for-14 shooting. Robert Shaw added 17 for the Patroons, while Anthony Allen scored a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Dallas Skyline were led in scoring by Daylon Guy, who scored 31 points - including going 11-for-11 from the free throw line. Dekabriean Eldridge added 21 points, while Wolf Rabb led the Skyline with 11 rebounds.

The Patroons' road trip continues on Sunday, when they face the Lewisville (tx.) Yellow Jackets, before returning to the Washington Avenue Armory for a three-game homestand, beginning on March 13 against the Columbus Condors.

Before Saturday night's The Basketball League game for the Patroons, Albany coach Derrick Rowland sat in his office and said this:
"Basketball is not a perfect game. You can not play a perfect basketball game."
His team then went upstairs, took the floor at Washington Avenue Armory, and tried to prove its coach wrong. The Patroons, still stinging after losing two straight road games and playing at home for the first time in two weeks, blasted the Lewisville (Texas) Yellow Jackets 133-81 in front of 1,545 at the Armory.
The Patroons improve to 5-2 and are 4-0 at home. Lewisville, which was completely overmatched, is 1-6.
We made a lot of mistakes on the road," said Albany guard Shadell Millinghaus, one of seven Patroons in double figures with 19 points. "We know (Rowland) expects a lot from us."
Rowland was not about to call this a perfect game even though the Patroons led virtually the entire way. The final score was the largest lead Albany had on this night. The game was a rout from the start as the Patroons took a 65-35 lead at halftime and the Yellow Jackets never got close.

Then, the Patroons went about the business of continuing to defend their title. At times, it was ugly but pretty, but Albany stayed unbeaten after four games with a 127-121 win over Columbus in front of 1,694 at Washington Avenue Armory.
"It definitely wasn't pretty," said Albany guard Jordan Robertson, one of six Patroons in double figures with 16 points. "We had way too many turnovers (31). We were definitely rushing things a bit.""
Rowland, who prides himself with everything the Patroons do, was not so happy with this one. He showed his anger to his team at halftime after just about running off the floor with his team trailing 53-47.

"No," Patroons coach Derrick Rowland, "he was everywhere."
The 7-foot, 245-pound Allen was a one-man wrecking crew as the Patroons beat the Raleigh Firebirds 136-121 in a The Basketball League game in front of 1,002 at the Armory. Allen came off the bench and scored a game-high 30 points and added a game-high 18 rebounds as the Patroons improved to 3-0. It was the second double-double of the season for Allen, who also had four blocked shots.
He also had at last a half dozen dunks.
"I really don't know," Allen said with a laugh when questioned about his dunks. "Coach tells me in the morning. He doesn't want to tell me at night."
Allen has been coming off the bench for Rowland so far this season and has answered every time he has been called.

For the first time since the Albany Patroons came back to life three years ago, there is energy and life and — this is big — people in Washington Avenue Armory. More importantly, there is money.
New owner Tim Maggs, a chiropractor from Schenectady, has made the monetary commitment to keep the Patroons going and he began to see some results of that as the team began its defense of last year's The Basketball League championship.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Albany Emeralds are all about the hype and if you think you can bring it, this is your chance to do so.
They were rebranded and formed again by Albany Empresses, who were the dance team for the Albany Empire. After the fallout of the Empire and Arena Football League, they brought their hype from the turf to the court.
They’re an exciting and talented group, giving The Albany Patroons some extra help and life from the sidelines this season. As they continue to fill their roster, the Emeralds will be hosting an open tryout on Sunday, December 15 at the Washington Armory in Albany beginning at 2p.m.

A great basketball team needs a dance team to compliment it.
And next season, the Albany Patroons are acquiring a ready-built dance team – er, hype squad.
Let me explain.
In the Patroons’ first iteration (1982-1993), the team had a set of dedicated dancers who would perform choreographed routines during breaks in the basketball action. During those times, the dance squad was known as the Patties (probably not the best idea to name your female dance team after a colloquial term for hamburger meat), and then later on they were known as the Patroons Patrolle (not the greatest name either, but at that time they were using a costumed alligator for a mascot, so there you go).
In the Patroons’ second iteration (2005-2009), the dance squad was known as the Emeralds, and I can tell you from visual experience that the Emeralds were the classiest dance team in the CBA. Good choreography, great dance moves, all the above.

Last year the Albany Patroons won their first championship in over 30 years
when they defeated the Yakima Sunkings 124-114 at the Washington Avenue Armory. Second year head coach
Derrick Rowland certainly had his hands full trying to balance the X's and O's while dealing with the
rigors that accompanies being in the front office of any minor league franchise.

Albany | The Albany Patroons needed an owner to ensure their survival for another season.
Dr. Tim Maggs wanted a team to promote his brand of sports medicine.
They forged a partnership that was announced Wednesday, when Maggs was introduced as the new owner of the professional basketball franchise at a news conference at Washington Avenue Armory.

I can tell you now … this will be fun.
Yesterday, the Albany Patroons held a press conference in which they announced –
- The team now has a well-funded and stable owner, Dr. Timothy Maggs;
- The team will return to the TBL (The Basketball League) and will feature new franchises and new competitions;
- Opening night will be the players’ “ring ceremony” – see, we won the TBL championship last year, in case you’re late to the party …
- Oh yeah, and there’s a new team logo.
Dr. Maggs is well-respected in the field of sports medicine and injuries, and
has worked with amateur and professional athletes for the past 35 years. He also has a long-term
friendship with Patroons head coach Derrick Rowland, who will return to the sidelines and bring back the
core of last year’s championship-winning squad.

Albany | Midway through the third quarter, the third and deciding game of The Basketball League Championship series had all the makings of a game that was going to be decided deep into the fourth quarter.
At least it seemed that way until Joshua Cameron began heating up for the Albany Patroons.
A trio of consecutive 3-pointers, including one than was part of a four-point play, ignited a 20-3 run for the Patroons late in the third and visiting Yakima could not answer as Albany captured the TBL title 124-113 Friday night in front of 2,222 at Washington Avenue Armory.
