The Albany Patroons will be playing against the Raleigh Firebirds on Friday, Feb. 14 accompanied by a halftime performance by American Idol Finalist and Capital Region native Madison Vandenburg.
On Saturday, Feb. 15, The Albany Patroons will host a championship ring ceremony at 6:30 p.m. before their 7 p.m. game against the Columbus Condors at the Washington Avenue Armory.
Vandenburg rose to fame during her time on American Idol’s seventeenth season in 2019. The Cohoes native placed third in the competition show and has since begun performing across the country and around the Capital Region, including a headlining show at the Times Union Center in June of 2019.
In the span of a minute, the Patroons scored 14 points to Tri-State's two,
including eight points from Jordan Robertson, en route to Albany's 101-96 win over the Admirals.
Robertson's eight points were part of his 17 overall in the Albany win.
The Patroons were led in scoring by Shadell Millinghaus, who scored 26 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Anthony Allen put 20 points on the scoreboard in 24 minutes of play while Brent Schuck (12) and Deverell Biggs (10) also scored in double figures for the Patroons.
Tri-State had three players score 17 points apiece — Adonis Delarosa, Jesse Steele and James Currington, while Corey Taite added 16. Currington was the top rebounder for the Admirals, with 16.
Albany moved to 2-0 on the season, while Tri-State fell to
0-2.
The Patroons will travel next to face the Gulf Coast Lions on Saturday in Sarasota, Fla. Their next home game is Friday, Feb. 14, when they return to Washington Avenue Armory to face the Raleigh Firebirds.

For the first time since the Albany Patroons came back to life three years ago, there is energy and life and — this is big — people in Washington Avenue Armory. More importantly, there is money.
New owner Tim Maggs, a chiropractor from Schenectady, has made the monetary commitment to keep the Patroons going and he began to see some results of that as the team began its defense of last year's The Basketball League championship.

Albany Patroons’ game tickets are more accessible than ever with discounted tickets available for purchase at all Price Chopper and Market 32 locations.
ALBANY, N.Y. (Jan. 2, 2020) –The Albany Patroons, the 2019 TBL Champions, have partnered with Price Chopper and Market 32 for the 2020 season. Through this partnership, general admission tickets to single games will be available for purchase at all Price Chopper and Market 32 locations at a discounted price beginning on Jan. 5.
The tickets, regularly priced at $15, will be discounted to $12 with AdvantEdge card when purchased at any register in any of Price Chopper and Market 32’s 132 store locations in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Once purchased, customers can redeem the General Admission ticket at the box office of the Washington Avenue Armory on the day of any regular season home game.

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Albany Emeralds are all about the hype and if you think you can bring it, this is your chance to do so.
They were rebranded and formed again by Albany Empresses, who were the dance team for the Albany Empire. After the fallout of the Empire and Arena Football League, they brought their hype from the turf to the court.
They’re an exciting and talented group, giving The Albany Patroons some extra help and life from the sidelines this season. As they continue to fill their roster, the Emeralds will be hosting an open tryout on Sunday, December 15 at the Washington Armory in Albany beginning at 2p.m.

ALBANY, N.Y. (Dec. 3, 2019) — The Albany Patroons, the 2019 TBL Champions, are proud to announce the formation of the new Albany Emeralds hype squad, made up from the former Albany Empire's Empress dance team. The change came about after the dissolving of the Albany Empire in efforts to continue showing support for the Albany Patroons and city pride. The team will now focus on engaging with fans both in the Armory during games and throughout the Capital Region community. According to Emerald Team Manager Danielle Rojas, The Emeralds will be unique with the creation of a co-ed Hype Squad. The Emeralds will hold open auditions on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Washington Avenue Armory - 195 Washington Avenue in Albany. The audition fee is $20 and pre-registration is not required. A final audition is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 20 at 7 p.m., location to be announced. Media, fans, family and friends are encouraged to attend the final audition which will be judged live. Fans can expect to see professionally choreographed routines by the dancers. With the intimate Armory setting, Rojas said the Emeralds will focus on fan interaction through on and off court activity on game days. The Emeralds share the Patroons' mission of community engagement and will work alongside the Patroons with their ongoing community efforts. They will visit local schools and be present at community events to engage fans, communicate the Patroons message and generate excitement all season long. “We were deeply saddened when we received the news of the AFL and the Empire shutting down,” said Rojas, “but when one door closes, another opened! A great basketball team needs a dance team to compliment it.
And next season, the Albany Patroons are acquiring a ready-built dance team – er, hype squad.
Let me explain.
In the Patroons’ first iteration (1982-1993), the team had a set of dedicated dancers who would perform choreographed routines during breaks in the basketball action. During those times, the dance squad was known as the Patties (probably not the best idea to name your female dance team after a colloquial term for hamburger meat), and then later on they were known as the Patroons Patrolle (not the greatest name either, but at that time they were using a costumed alligator for a mascot, so there you go).
In the Patroons’ second iteration (2005-2009), the dance squad was known as the Emeralds, and I can tell you from visual experience that the Emeralds were the classiest dance team in the CBA. Good choreography, great dance moves, all the above.

when they defeated the Yakima Sunkings 124-114 at the Washington Avenue Armory. Second year head coach
Derrick Rowland certainly had his hands full trying to balance the X's and O's while dealing with the
rigors that accompanies being in the front office of any minor league franchise.

have announced Dr. Timothy Maggs has purchased the franchise with plans to expand and enhance team
operations in Albany.
Dr. Maggs pledges to invest into the Patroons franchise, coming off their historic 2019 championship run, to raise the profile of the team in not only the City of Albany, but the entire Capital Region.

Dr. Tim Maggs wanted a team to promote his brand of sports medicine.
They forged a partnership that was announced Wednesday, when Maggs was introduced as the new owner of the professional basketball franchise at a news conference at Washington Avenue Armory.

I can tell you now … this will be fun.
Yesterday, the Albany Patroons held a press conference in which they announced –
- The team now has a well-funded and stable owner, Dr. Timothy Maggs;
- The team will return to the TBL (The Basketball League) and will feature new franchises and new competitions;
- Opening night will be the players’ “ring ceremony” – see, we won the TBL championship last year, in case you’re late to the party …
- Oh yeah, and there’s a new team logo.
Dr. Maggs is well-respected in the field of sports medicine and injuries, and
has worked with amateur and professional athletes for the past 35 years. He also has a long-term
friendship with Patroons head coach Derrick Rowland, who will return to the sidelines and bring back the
core of last year’s championship-winning squad.

Albany | Midway through the third quarter, the third and deciding game of The Basketball League Championship series had all the makings of a game that was going to be decided deep into the fourth quarter.
At least it seemed that way until Joshua Cameron began heating up for the Albany Patroons.
A trio of consecutive 3-pointers, including one than was part of a four-point play, ignited a 20-3 run for the Patroons late in the third and visiting Yakima could not answer as Albany captured the TBL title 124-113 Friday night in front of 2,222 at Washington Avenue Armory.
